National Book Day



This Tuesday was National Book Day.



We made bookmarks to celebrate.



We used paint in many colors to decorate the bookmarks.



We used our fingers and paint brushes to paint the bookmarks.




Now we need to wash our hands.

The Tortoise and the Hare

We read "The Tortoise and the Hare."


The tortoise and the hare decide they are going to have a race. Do you remember what a race is?
It is a competition to see who can cross the finish line first.


Does the tortoise walk fast or slow?
slow

Does the hare run fast or slow?
fast

But who wins the race?
the tortoise


Why does the tortoise win the race?
Because he does not stop to take a nap like the hare.

What does the tortoise say after he wins the race?
"The hare may be fast, but slow and steady wins the race."
